Don't have your own equipment? Don't worry - 1st Bike Rider Training will provide you with the following-

  • Motorcycle helmet & Radios.
  • Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers.
  • Protective gloves.
  • Scooter or Geared motorcycle (if required).


Please ensure you bring with you your Photocard driving licence, valid in date CBT certificate and DVSA Theory Test certificate (if already obtained).

The A1 category training prepares you for your motorcycle practical test on a motorcycle with a cubic capacity of at least 115cc up to 125cc capable of at least 56 mph (90 kph).

It is suited to persons who only wish to ride a smaller machine or persons under the age of 21, minimum age 17 years old.

Your instruction will take place on one of our 125cc motorcycles and will start on our secure training area, to get you familiar with the controls of the machine to prepare you for the Module 1 test. (Click here for further information).  This test is usually carried out at the DVSA test centre, located in Wakefield.

On completion of the Module 1 test your 1st Bike Rider Training instructor will continue your Module 2 training on various roads to give you more confidence before your module 2 test. This test can be carried out at various DVSA test locations, our prefered centre being located at York.  However there are other centres located around the Yorkshire area.

When you pass both Module 1 & Module 2 you will be able to:

  • Ride a motorcycle of 125cc / 11kw (15 bhp)..
  • Ride without L-plates.
  • Carry passengers.
  • Ride on motorways.
  • After 2 years you can then take training towards your A2 if required.

Module 1 test fee - £15.50 (to DVSA).

Module 2 test fee - £75.00 (to DVSA).
